The Whale Watcher House is a 3-unit vacation rental which sits on the edge of the cliff, overlooking the islands in the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve.  This particular unit is The Loon.

The Whale Watcher's location is second to none on the Avalon Peninsula. Day trips can include everything from checking out the newest UNESCO site in Portugal Cove South - Mistaken Point, to whale watching and birding in Bay Bulls or Witless Bay, to hiking the dramatic paths of the East Coast Trail.  For further information on a selection of one day trips to make from the Whale Watcher's apartments - click through to Location from our menu...and there are links to the recommended activities.

The Loon is a self contained unit which consists of two rooms - a bedroom with its own private washroom, and a kitchen/living room area with double pull out bed - and a second private washroom. (Don't forget to check the floor plan on the "Gallery" page on this website.)

  • Living room with queen-sized pull out sofa bed
  • Bathrooms, with over-sized showers
  • Kitchen area with microwave, fridge, toaster, coffee machine, etc.
  • All linen amenities – sheets and towels
  • Eating area with table, 2 chairs, and 2 stools
  • Spacious deck off the kitchen/living area – outside seating for 4, and your own BBQ
  • Wireless internet
  • Iron and board
  • Lots of closet space
  • Clothes hooks for drying hikers garb
  • Plenty of parking

LITTLE THINGS – blankets for evening wraps on the decks; couple of new archaeological digs – Tors Cove and Bay Bulls; Maggie – not my dog, but of the “please love me, scratch me, feed me variety’; most helpful neighbour Jerry – former whale boat operator, current part-time boat builder, builder of the Whale Watcher House, and owner of Maggie the Black Lab; Church with sweet Sunday service (R.C.); sheep on the island across the water – they talk to you every day; sunrises that move your soul, heal your heart, and render you useless to anything but coffee and more of the same!)
