Location

The Whale Watcher is located just 40 minutes from St. John’s, Newfoundland.  We are easy to find: south of the Capital City, near Tors Cove, locate the tri-communities of Burnt Cove, St. Michaels and Bauline South; the Whale Watcher is located in St. Michaels. It occupies a dramatic oceanfront cliff setting – overlooking the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve.

The property’s unique location provides an unforgettable wildlife experience. During whale watching season, whales can sometimes be seen as close as ten meters from the shore. In late spring, spectacular icebergs float nearby, creating breathtaking coastal scenery.

Birdwatchers will delight in the seabird colonies of the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve, home to millions of birds, including puffins, murres, kittiwakes, and gulls. Viewing these stunning birds is easy from the property and surrounding trails.

Whether you’re here for whale watching, puffins, seabird spotting, or simply to enjoy the oceanfront views as you hike along Newfoundland’s East Coast Trail, the Whale Watcher offers a one-of-a-kind coastal experience.
